Yes, Websites Are Still Relevant

Let’s talk websites. Over the years I think many service based businesses have allowed their chosen social media outlet to take the place of a website. Social media has its spot as a place to build connection, but personally as a small business owner it has only increased the importance of having my own website. There’s a few reasons I encourage you to get your biz a .com:

  1. Security. Losing my business Instagram is one of my worst nightmares. I’ve seen it happen to one too many accounts and it causes me a lot of discomfort. Whether it gets hacked or disappears into the abyss (yes, I’ve seen this), to being shadow banned… it’s pretty clear that your account does not totally belong to you, where a website is 100% yours.

  2. Full creative control. Your website is a space to show your best version. It’s where you get to show your people your sparkle without worrying about following silly trends. We can make a website look like how we want it and say what we want it to say.

  3. Find your people. Think of a website as a storefront. Some will catch the vibe, some won’t. Websites are strategic. From design, to copy, to your contact form. By the time people have filled out my contact form, they’re usually ready to book. This is because my strategic website does a great job with a few things: clearly translates core information, shows my work, tells you the type of people I work with and weeds out the people I don’t.

  4. Drive connection and build community. Build a special community like the Rodeo Club with a newsletter. It’s DIRECT connection. Newsletter are a wonderful way to let people know: sales/new products that are released, of a new portfolio item, of a new blog, or even for events.

So. Websites are for security, creativity, soul-searching/finding and connection. All on YOUR terms. Don’t these seem like reason enough to finally get your own website? If you’re ready to make the big leap with your online space, we’re right here waiting for you.
